It’s our favorite time of the year. Because we want to encourage folks and their families to enjoy the fall weather and our beautiful parks, we partnered with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to host a fun event at the Williams Power Recreation Center. Lots of fun activities and kids are encouraged to wear their costumes.

On the Southeast side of Chicago, there are different pollutants being emitted into the air, water, and soil in our community from the different industrial companies which are operating in our community. Because of this, we need something to help us identify and track the sources. With the help of the University of Illinois, a mobile app has been developed to help track potential environmental hazards in the community. We are looking for 25 community residents from; The Eastside, Hegewisch, Jeffery Manor, South Chicago, South Deering, and Vets Park. SETF is looking for community residents over 18 years of age to test and evaluate the app for 4 to 5 weeks. If you are interested please contact The Southeast Environmental Task Force, (773) 646-0436; setf@sbcglobal.net or email Anna Johnson, SETF Volunteer at ajay722@yahoo.com Community residents will be engaged and involved in the process of testing and utilizing the app.
